"The 2010 Chardonnay Ulises Valdez Vineyard comes across as beautiful and very restrained in this vintage. It reveals gorgeous focus and cut in a more mineral-driven, focused style than the 2009. Cool, mineral notes reappear on the finish, adding further elements of precision and clarity. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.

This is a dazzling set of Chardonnays and Pinots from Paul Hobbs. The wines are made with native primary and secondary fermentations, aged on their lees and bottled without fining of filtration. Readers may want to check out my video interview with Paul Hobbs on www.eroberparker.com for more details. Vintages 2009 and 2010 are both strong, but I find myself favoring the 2010s for their greater verve and focus. Either way, it is virtually impossible to go wrong with any of these new and upcoming releases." (WA)

"Light gold. Assertive, precise aromas of pear, lemon curd and minerals, with a deeper vanilla note building with air. Deeply pitched but vibrant, with penetrating acidity providing energy to the citrus and floral flavors. Concentrated but lithe chardonnay with bright minerality and a tactile impression on the very long, chewy finish." (IWC)

Winery Notes:
Characteristically bold, yet silky and refined, this deep golden chardonnay offers scents of brioche, jasmine and exotic vanilla. A richly layered palate bursts with juniper berry, tangerine, custard, Fuji apple, and white flowers. The mid-palate is reminiscent of buttery apple pie. The bright bouquet of flavors persists over a silky, lingering creamy finish. Alcohol 14.3%
