"The 2010 Malvasia Bianca Larner Vineyard is arguably the most varietally true of the whites. Exotic passion fruit, mint and peaches are some of the aromas and flavors that flow from this gorgeous wine. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013.

I can’t think of anyone who has done more to promote Italian varieties in California than Steve Clifton with his Palmina label. I admit I was intrigued with these offerings, and came away deeply impressed with most of what I tasted. I am still not 100% convinced all of these grapes have significant potential in California, but most of them do. Some of the wines remain works in progress, including the Lagrein and Sangiovese Undici." (WA)

"Light, bright gold. An explosively perfumed bouquet evokes pit fruits, lavender, honeycomb and toasted grain, with a strong topnote of white pepper. Rich but lively, with impressive depth to its nectarine, quince and lavender flavors. Finishes bright and racy, with lingering florality and excellent persistence. " (IWC)

Winery Notes:
This year’s Malvasia smells of all the wonderful aromas that fill the air as spring gives way to summer. A soft perfume of white flowers such as honeysuckle, night jasmine and citrus blossoms mingle with lemon grass and spice. Notes of cinnamon and mace lilt over and under the sweet smells of flowers and citrus. The palate is an immediate yin-yang dance between the bright acidity of lemon, lime and mandarin with the creamy depth of flavors, viscosity and richness one would associate with passion-fruit, cantaloupe and green papaya. The wine changes with every sniff, swirl and taste.

Pairs beautifully with big, savory dishes, such as Polenta Panino.
