Winery Notes:
We have taken a decidedly ‘New World’ approach to Grenache. Too much of the Grenache made in the world has a dusty, dried rose petal, terrior driven flavor. My objective in working with Grenache is to deliver a succulent juicy wine that features the delicate floral nature of this variety. We have not always succeeded. Our first vintage was a big disappointment as I left the wine in barrel too long and overwhelmed the fragile flavors of the Grenache with those of the cooperage. In subsequent years we have used older neutral, barrels and have aged the wine for just eight to nine months. The result is a delightful luncheon style red wine perfect for lighter fare and warm summer afternoons.

The 2010 Grenache has a medium ruby color with carmine hues. The aroma delivers a delightful blend of strawberry, pear, cherry and cranberry. A brief nine months in barrel adds just a nuance of toast and vanilla. On the palate flavors of ripe red fruits lead to an elegant finish loaded with briary raspberries, cherries and creamy oak. The tannins of this wine are so well integrated as to go unnoticed in this wine’s very supple finish.
