"Bodegas La Cana’s 2010 Albarino was fermented in stainless steel (80%) and larger barrels (20%) and aged sur lie. Mineral, lemon zest, baking spices, and floral notes inform the nose of this round, smooth-textured, savory white. With excellent volume and length, this outstanding value will provide pleasure for another 3-4 years. " (WA)

Winery Notes:
This is the third release of this wine. This winery is a new project between the Gil family of Jumilla and Jorge Ordoñez. The grapes for this wine come from 11.5 Ha of vineyards (5.2 Ha are estate owned and 6.3 Ha are owned by local growers) divided amongst 12 parcels located in Sisan Ribadumia in the Salnes Valley, the most northern part of the Rias Baixas very near the Atlantic ocean. The vines were planted in 1966 in the pergola system, traditional for this area. The soils are very sandy and have a high acidity due to their proximity to the ocean. Yields are 4.5 T/Ha.

The winemaker is Alistair Gardner from New Zealand, well regarded for his work in white wines both in Spain and in New Zealand.

The wine is partially barrel fermented and all of the wine rests sur lie. Production: 4,300 Cases
