"This shows good focus to the peach and pine flavors, which feature fresh notes of sage, guava and white pepper. Smoky notes linger on the juicy finish. Drink now through 2020." (WS)

"Fresh cherry, apple, and honeysuckle in the nose of von Kunow's 2009 Oberemmeler Hutte Riesling Kabinett make their palate appearance with lush, caressing, levitating liquidity, giving an impression, backed by prominent sweetness, that I deem more Spatlese-like. Hints of fresh lime, its rind, and tart apple skin offer some push-back to the residual sugar, but this Riesling of lovely purity and delicacy is nevertheless one for those with a sweet tooth – or willing to wait for a decade or so to drink it.

A dreadful health crisis from which he is thankfully now slowly recovering put proprietor Eberhard von Kunow entirely out of commission at critical junctures in the evolution of his 2009 crop, one result of which was a collection abbreviated at the upper end of Oechsle." (WA)

"($25) Aromas of white peach and sweet lime. Bright, crisp apple fruit is perked up by lively acidity. Just enough creamy sweetness to assure an appealing finish." (IWC)

Winery Notes:
Estate: The history of the estate goes back to the 12th century, when Monks constructed the property and cellar. The von Kunow family acquired the estate from Napoleon in 1806. Today, Eberhard von Kunow, the 6th generation of the family, runs the winery with his son Maximilian, who has just finished his education in oenology.

Tasting note: Always an excellent value, and this year is no exception. The wine has pear aromas, followed by a round mouth with good acidity to support the raspberry flavors, and pineapple on the finish.

Food affinity: Great to enjoy on its own, but also great with salads and spicy dishes including fusion cuisine.
