"Velvety, with an airy feel to the rich blueberry and cherry flavors, picking up a peppery note as the finish comes on. This has intensity and length, finishing a bit hot. Drink now through 2017. 138 cases made." (WS)

"The 2009 Pinot Noir Equinox comes from the tenderloin of Mortimer’s holdings. It exhibits a brooding bouquet of sandalwood, exotic spices, incense, rose petal, black cherry, and black berry. In the glass it has excellent density, a velvety texture, a suave personality, and a 60-second finish. This nicely proportioned Pinot will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2021+. It is one of the stars of the vintage.

Tom Mortimer has divided his Le Cadeau Vineyard into five parcels with each block produced by a different winemaker. It is a relatively young vineyard with plantings in 1999, 2002, 2006, and 2008." (WA)

"Vivid ruby. Sexy aromas of ripe blackberry, spicecake and dried rose, along with subtle notes of vanilla and underbrush. Plump and broad, offering open-knit red and dark berry preserve flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Smooth and attractively sweet on the finish, which clings with very good tenacity and lingering spiciness. This will be drinkable soon but could age on its balance." (IWC)

"Dark and smoky, this bold and full-bodied Pinot Noir does not shy away from the Oregon Pinot flavor markers of peppery herbs. But it’s all in proportion, and the herbal streaks are comfortably set in fully ripe black fruit flavors." (WE)

Winery Notes:
The Équinoxe cuvee is made from the crest of the hill where the vines enjoy equal sun on both sides throughout the day. It is a full bodied wine, ripe with beautiful black and blue fruits and hints of Asian spices. Équinoxe is crafted by Jim Sanders; Jim learned his winemaking from friend, mentor, and celebrated Oregon winemaker, Mike Etzel.
