"There's a ripe, brambly quality to the pure blueberry, blackberry and plum fruit flavors in this red, which has lovely integration overall. Hints of anise and smoke add depth, with a juicy finish. Drink now through 2012. 250 cases made. " (WS)

"Blueberry and juniper berry combine for intense aromatics and bright palate persistence in Domaine Rochette’s 2009 Cote de Brouilly, with black pepper, juniper, salt, and tart berry skin combining for an invigorating pungency that – along with crushed stone and pencil lead mineral undertones – serves as a superb foil for the sheer intensity of this wine’s blue fruits. The finishing interaction of fruit and mineral here is worthy of a Riesling, and this will prove deliciously versatile for at least the next 3-4 years.

I know only the rudiments of Joel and Matthieu Rochette’s operation and I did not taste their 2008 collection, but the fruits of their hand-harvested fruit from old vines really spoke for themselves in 2009 and – based on pricing set by the importer for previous vintages – should prove a superb source of value." "Bright medium red. Sexy, expansive aromas of strawberry and raspberry, complemented by a strong floral quality and a hint of Asian spices. Silky, penetrating red berry preserve flavors are lifted by zesty minerality and pick up a touch of bitter cherry with air. The supple, sweet finish leaves a trail of juicy red fruit and floral pastille notes behind. Offers compelling purity of red fruit flavor." (IWC)
