"Here is a deep and genuinely sophisticated look at Sauvignon that goes well past simple grassiness and melons. It opens nicely with layered, well-integrated aromas of citrus, fresh hay, green figs, wet stones and sweet oak, and its lengthy, like-minded flavors accurately reflect all of the same. It is balanced to firmness with perfectly placed acids enlivening its long-lasting finish, and it is a wine that cannot but get better yet with age. While very rich, it is beautifully composed and never overdone in any way, and it will bring out the best in both meaty white fish and lighter poultry dishes. Reviewed: February 2011" (CG)

Winery Notes:
95% Sauvignon Blanc (35% Sauvignon Musqué Clone), 5% Semillon

Sauvignon Blanc grapes from Quintessa and vineyards in the cool southern hillsides of Napa Valley were hand harvested and whole- cluster pressed. The wines were fermented with native and cultured yeasts in several different vessels. French oak barrels (10% new) contribute body and a round mouthfeel, egg-shaped concrete fermenters add rich texture with aromatic purity, and stainless steel tanks provide fresh unadulterated aromatics. Semillon provides texture and roundness on the palate to complement the vibrant, tangy Sauvignon Blanc. Lees stirring in tank and barrel lends additional complexity.

Complex citrus flower, herb and stone fruit aromas leap from the glass. The first sip unveils more stone fruit with tangy pomelo flavors with hints of Meyer lemon and papaya balancing the wine’s body and complexity. A vibrant, lingering finish persists with citrus and mineral notes.
