" Lots going on in this affordable wine. It’s zesty in acidity, with a minerally bite to the pineapple, green apple and pear jam fruit. Straddles the border between dry and honey sweet. Best Buy." (WE)

"5. 2009 Hahn Winery, “GSM, Red Wine Blend,” Central Coast ($12) – Medium ruby; attractive, plummy, dark berry fruit aroma with hints of vanilla and bacon fat; medium-full body; supple, ripe black cherry fruit flavors with a touch of mocha and tending to a slightly pruney character; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Good value and easy to drink now. Highly recommended. 14% alcohol; 2,200 cases; a blend of 60% Grenache, 37% Syrah, and 3% Mourvèdre; released September 2010. (Group Score: 16.0, 2/0/0; My Score: 16.5 [88/100], sixth place)" (CAGV)

Winery Notes:
This Southern Rhone-inspired blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre showcases the best of these varietals from California’s Central Coast. Grenache brings berry and spice notes to the mix, while Syrah provides color and tannins, and Mourvedre adds acidity and structure. This deep-hued wine opens with intense aromas of dark fruit and berries, vanilla and clove. Flavors of black cherry cola, blackberry, fig and pepper are supported by refreshing acidity and a well-framed tannic structure.

Try pairing this wine with a rack of lamb and caramelized shallots, broiled filet mignon on garlic mashed potatoes or grilled pork tenderloin with a blackberry compote.
