"The 2009 Corton-Renardes shows fabulous depth from start to finish. Kirsch, hard candy, wild flowers and spices are some of the many notes that jump from the glass. Rich and seductive, the Corton-Renardes presents a highly representative picture of the vintage in its flashiness. This is a decidedly ripe, opulent style, but it works. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. " (WA)

"(as with the Rognets, this is being aged in one- and two-year-old barrels; vinified with 20% whole clusters) Medium red. Ripe aromas of cherry, earth, spices, herbs and oak. Complex and voluminous in the mouth, with lovely soil-driven minerality to its red fruit flavors. Really mounts and expands toward the back, finishing with lovely tension. At once deep and discreet, and light on its feet. I like the stem influence here." (IWC)

"A more reserved nose speaks of earth and the hallmark sauvage nuances on the primarily red fruit aromas that complement well the robust, concentrated and overtly muscular flavors that possess reasonable refinement despite the size and culminate in a pure and slightly more complex finish. There is just a bit more here." (BH)

Winery Notes:
Lighter in color than the Rognets, more meaty and rustic on the nose. On the palate, caramel candy, menthol, minty chocolate. Less fleshy than the Rognets with more tobacco and leather, but still a very long and fine fruit finish. 19.3/20
