"The 2009 Rosso di Montepulciano impresses for its classy, understated personality. It is a fresh, perfumed Rosso best enjoyed while the fruit retains its sweet, floral qualities. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to taste the complete line-up from Avignonesi this year. The Cortona Desiderio and both Vin Santos had not been bottled as we went to press. " (WA)

"($17; 13.5% alcohol) Bright red. Perfumed aromas of subtle sour red cherry, kirsch and tar are enlivened by a cool floral mintiness. Vinous and classy on the palate, with juicy red berry and mineral flavors. Finishes fresh and long, with smooth, sophisticated tannins and bright acids. Makes a very pretty food wine." (IWC)

Winery Notes:
85% Prugnolo Gentile with 15% indigenous grapes, four months in Slavonian oak casks.
