Winery Notes:
2009 started out with a climate characterized by very intense rains which extended until the second half of June. The summer, on the other hand, was marked by good weather which guaranteed perfect plant development and therefore a thorough ripening of the grapes. These optimal climatic conditions continued through the middle of August, when days of intense sunshine encouraged the grape bunches to develop completely, thereby allowing the maximum expression of the intrinsic aromas and characteristics of each individual variety. At harvest time each grape variety was well-ripened and of an excellent quality.

The grapes, originating from the “Scalabrone” vineyard located in the “Guado al Tasso Estate” in Bolgheri, were gathered and destemmed, after which they were gently crushed. The maceration process took place at a controlled temperature (approximately 10°C) for a period of 4-6 hours depending on each grape variety, in order to obtain a must with the right color intensity, but without astringent qualities. Alcoholic fermentation, on the other hand, occurred at a temperature not exceeding 16°C. Subsequently, in mid-December, the wine was blended and kept at a temperature of 10°C in order to preserve its aromas up until the moment of bottling, which took place in January. Alcohol content: 12% by vol.

Tenuta Guado al Tasso is situated about 80 Km south-west of Florence near the medieval town of Bolgheri, in Maremma. The 900-hectare estate extends down the Tyrrhenian coast to the hills and apart from 300 hectares of vineyards, other crops grown here include wheat, corn, sunflowers, olives. The vineyard and consequently the wine are named after the bandit "Scalabrone" who lived in this area in the early 19th century, a kind of Robin Hood figure who attacked ships in the old canal harbour Bolgher. This wine is a Bolgheri Rosato DOC with strong personality, and particularly vibrant colour and aromas.

The wine introduces itself with a brilliant peony rose color. To the nose it expresses aromas of fruit with hints of raspberry which enliven its freshness. On the palate the wine is well-balanced and sapid, with a lingering and pleasantly fruity finish which leaves notes of raspberry and rose in the mouth.
