"Rich and extracted, a dense, chewy youngster, offering a mix of smoky oak, blackberry and black licorice flavors that are tightly wound and slow to unfold. Gains complexity on the finish, where the flavors are more detailed. Best after 2011. 516 cases made." (WS)

"Even better is the brilliant 2008 Pinot Noir Lindsay Estate (the home vineyard for Paul Hobbs that is planted with an assortment of clones such as the Calera and Swan California selections as well as the Pommard clone). It exhibits copious aromas of black currants, black cherries, raspberries, underbrush and spring flowers as well as a dense, full-bodied mouthfeel and a multilayered texture. This dazzling Pinot Noir can be enjoyed over the next decade.

The irrepressible Paul Hobbs fashioned a beautiful portfolio of Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in both 2008 and 2009. His style of Chardonnay comes directly from the Burgundy handbook, meaning cool vineyard sites, full malolactic fermentations, lots of lees contact and the use of well-established clones, such as the old Wente and occasionally some of the newer Dijon clones. The 2009 Chardonnays are slightly more perfumed as well as lower in alcohol." (WA)

"Vivid ruby. An intensely perfumed, exotic bouquet of red and dark berry preserves, incense, cinnamon and gingerbread. Juicy raspberry and boysenberry flavors provide excellent palate coverage and become spicier with aeration. Extremely suave pinot with a long, sappy, sweet finish that echoes the floral note." (IWC)

Winery Notes:
From the iron-rich, Goldridge soils of our estate vineyard emerges a pinot noir of striking complexity, concentration and sophistication. Ruby-hued and intensely aromatic with Bing cherry, spice and forest floor, it resonates with pure pinot noir character. Seamless layers of wild raspberry, cola, violets and cedar intertwine and gain depth through a midpalate framed by supple tannins and clove that create an elegant, lingering finish. Alcohol 14.6%
