"Presents an underlying mix of loamy earth and gravel notes that provide the foundation, with moderately ripe plum and black cherry, ending with juicy black licorice. Drink now through 2020. 3,320 cases made. " (WS)

"This wine exhibits more fruity presence and teases with a bit of early plushness not found in its mates below, and, while never an especially big or outgoing effort, it nonetheless keys on Pinot and does so without any extraneous fat. It is, in fact, so firm as to be justifiably be called "tight" at the finish, and its recommendation comes with the proviso that it be held for a couple of years. Reviewed: June 2012" (CG)

"Absolutely stunning, a testament to the vintage, the terroir and to the winemaker’s impeccable hand. It’s delicious beyond description, offering wave after wave of cherry pie, blackberry confit, red currant, persimmon and cola flavors, finished with exciting spices. Already throwing sediment, it’s so balanced in acids and tannins that it’s gorgeous now, but should…" (WE)

Winery Notes:
The Vinification
The grapes were harvested August 30 - September 13. After minimal crushing, they fermented in stainless steel, with no whole clusters. The wine was aged in premium French oak barrels, 26% new, coopered by Remond, Rousseau, Marsannay, Mercurey and Marchive from the forest of Bertranges. It was bottled, unfined and unfiltered, in August 2009.

The Clones
The six clones planted in the vineyard’s 30 acres of Pinot Noir yield wines with complex layers of flavors. The blend of clones in this vintage is 26% Pommard, 23% Swan, 20% Cristina 88, 18% Dijon 115, 7% Dijon 667, and 6% Lee.

Tasting Notes
The attractive garnet color is classic Russian River, and so is the nose of black cherry, sassafras and a hint of pomegranate. The elegant oak contributes notes of clove and sandalwood, perfectly integrated with the fruit. The mouthfeel is round and engaging, classic Pinot Noir, with a note of lively spice at the end. The finish is long and the wine shows great aging potential.
