"Absolutely stunning, the 2008 Smoke and Mirrors is a 158-case blend of 50% Syrah, 31% Petite Sirah and the rest Carignan, Zinfandel, Grenache and Tempranillo. Displaying Cohn’s magical touch, it is a sensational bargain boasting an opaque purple color along with super blackberry, lead pencil shavings, pen ink, charcoal and camphor notes. This dense, full-bodied, silky smooth red possesses a singular personality as well as compelling richness and length. It should drink nicely for 5-7 years.

It would be terrific news if one day the winemaker behind all these brilliant wines, Jeff Cohn, gets his own winery and vineyard. He certainly has a knack for putting together super wines, generally from Rhone Ranger varietals, but also Zinfandel." (WA)

Winery Notes:
"Smoke and Mirrors brings another chance to work our magic by blending vineyards, which span California, 10 in total. The varietals include Syrah, Petite Sirah & Zinfandel. Über extracted, black cherry in color, the wine clings to the sides of the glass as you swirl, defying gravity." -Jeff Cohn

Tasting Notes
A Deep black cherry, plum color that hangs to the side of the glass. Aromas of Spiced plums with hint of Rosemary and thyme, that is layered with caramelized sugar and blackberry jam. The palate showcases black cherry and touches of French vanilla bean and cocoa powder, with just a touch-smoked meat. The finish is lush and decadent.
