"The 2008 Bolgheri Superiore Sor Ugo boasts terrific richness and depth in its super-ripe plums, blackberries, spices, mint and wild flowers. Seamless and opulent, the 2008 captures the essence of this great Maremma vintage. Layers of fruit crescendo on the plush, racy finish. Sor Ugo is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a dash of Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. " (WA)

"(50% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 15% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot): Deep red. Strawberry, raspberry jam, mocha and red licorice on the very ripe nose. Then surprisingly juicy and vibrant in the mouth, with harmonious acidity giving energy and definition to the ripe red berry, spice and fresh herb flavors. Finishes with suave tannins, excellent length and a peppery zing. This spent 18 months in new French oak barrels. " (IWC)

"Amazing plushness and richness characterizes this impressive offering from Aia Vecchia. It’s hard to match the beauty of this wine, which expresses itself as dark chocolate, cherry liqueur, black licorice, cigar box and dark spice. Soft, plush, super-rich tannins characterize the mouthfeel. — M.L. (2/1/2012)" (WE)
