"The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino caresses the palate with expressive layers of dark red cherries, flowers, incense and tobacco. Fine, silky tannins provide the backbone as the wine opens up in the glass. The 2007 boasts gorgeous nuance and definition from start to finish. This is a striking wine from Piancornello. The estate gave the Brunello 36 months in a combination of tonneau and cask. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.

I was quite taken with the wines I tasted from Piancornello this year. The estate is located in the southern part of Montalcino, where the wines typically show considerable breadth and richness." (WA)

"Good medium red. Slightly syrupy aromas of strawberry liqueur, roasted herbs, tobacco and loam, complicated by some smoky oak. Silky-sweet and loaded with red fruits; nicely concentrated but a bit youthfully chunky and lacking in definition and nuance. Finishes with dusty, building tannins, sound acidity and a late smoky note." (IWC)

"Aromas of plums and orange peel on the nose and palate. Full body, with soft and velvety tannins and a persistent finish. Lovely mouth-feel. Drink or hold." (JS)

Winery Notes:
The wine is aged in new and used French Oak for ten months and then in large wooden casks for two years. You will find aromas of red fruits and earth with a palate of intense fruit flavors. The finish is long. Try with wild boar.
