"Macerated cherry, licorice and sweet spice are the flavor themes in this harmonious red. This shows both bright acidity and ripe tannins underneath, lingering on the tobacco-accented finish. Drink now through 2024. 1,500 cases made." (WS)

THE BEST BRUNELLO AROUND FOR UNDER $50, AND IT’S $34.95 2007 LUCIANI – BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO

The 2007 vintage produced some excellent Brunellos and of the many I’ve tried the best one selling for under $50 was from Luciani, a wine normally selling for around $42 to $45 a bottle, but on special at L.A. Wine Co. for $34.95. The Luciani is a fruitier style Brunello yet with enough tannin and overall acid balance to produce a wine with a lingering finish and oodles of charm. Quite enjoyable now the wine will even gain with another 2 to 3 years aging and keep well throughout the decade I found in this deep purple wine appealing flavors and aromas of currants, dark berries, plums and an appeal¬ing touch of earthiness that gave the wine an interesting and appealing dimension.
