"A lush, barrel-fermented style, with alluring whiffs of lemon pound cake and brioche giving way to stylish verbena, plantain, quinine and white peach flavors, followed by a long finish. Atypical and beautifully done. Drink now through 2013. 916 cases made. " (WS)

"($25) Light yellow. Fresh orange and apple on the nose, with complicating notes of anise and wet stone. Dry, nervy citrus and floral flavors are nicely focused and pure. Gains fleshiness with aeration and finishes with lingering mineral and floral qualities. (The weighty, deeply concentrated 2006 Cuvee du Connetable was so overwhelmed by spicy, vanillin oak that it was unidentifiable as sauvignon blanc, much less Sancerre.)" (IWC)

Winery Notes:
The Cuvée du Connetable is made from a selection of Sauvignon Blanc grapes harvested from the best plots in the Château de Sancerre's vineyards which are composed essentially of flint and chalky stones. This exceptional, estate-bottled wine is obtained by blending 2/3 of oak-fermented wine with 1/3 of tank-fermented wine, which gives structure and complexity.

Bright yellow with golden highlights

Intense and mineral nose with vanilla notes and apricot aromas.

The wine starts off bold and fleshy on the palate with smooth tannins. Long finish with the liveliness that is typical of Sancerre.
