"Dark, dense and chewy with tannins, not heavy but packed with black cherry, licorice, black pepper and roasted meat flavors, lingering on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Best from 2011 through 2017. 440 cases made." (WS)

"The 2007 Taptiel Vineyard is composed of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc, and 11% Merlot aged in 40% new French oak for 18 months. Aromas of mineral, damp earth, herbs, sage, cassis and black currant lead to a medium to full-bodied wine with incipient complexity. Savory, smooth-textured, well-balanced, and with enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years, this firm, lengthy offering will be in its prime from 2013 to 2027. The Cadence winery is located in the South Park region of Seattle. It is owned and operated by husband and wife team Ben Smith and Gaye McNutt. All of their wines are sourced from Red Mountain fruit selected from several of the most prestigious vineyards. Cara Mia is their estate vineyard planted in 2004. The wines are all blends of the Bordeaux varieties. Current production stands at 2300 cases." (WA)

"($45; 56% cabernet sauvignon, 33% cabernet franc and 11% merlot) Good deep red. Enticing aromas of currant, blackberry, black cherry, cured tobacco, fresh herbs, minerals and chocolate, lifted by menthol and fresh rose elements. Suave, layered and sweet, with a silky, seamless texture and an intriguing saline quality. This really spreads out to coat the palate with red fruit, graphite and mineral flavors. The Cadence wines have gained in richness and fullness in the past few vintages without any loss of balance or freshness. Finishes pliant, broad and long, with very suave but serious tannins and impressive energy." (IWC)

Winery Notes:
56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot. This is our tenth bottling of Larry and Jane Pearson’s superb vineyard, and a wonderful decade has it been! Altogether deeper black fruit than Ciel du Cheval combined with a powerful sense of Tapteil dust, a signature trait of this vineyard. There is a solid core of massive blackberry and black plum fruit. The freshness of the vintage is present in the slight orange peel accents on the palate. The tannins are typically Tapteil: big, ripe, long and dense. This needs a steak like fish need water.
