40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Syrah, 17% Merlot, 10% Malbec

"There's a little bit of lots of things here—Cabernet, Syrah, Malbec and Merlot—very tightly wound, with firm tannins and flinty acidity. Needs time to show what it has, but pointed in the right direction. Decant. Best from 2013 through 2020. 2,025 cases made. " (WS)

"Buoncristiani’s 2007 O.P.C. is a fairly priced, impressively endowed blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Syrah, 17% Merlot and 10% Malbec. It possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as abundant aromas of charcoal and camphor intermixed with background oak and spice. Medium to full-bodied with excellent purity, texture and length, this impressive effort should drink nicely for 7-8 years. " (WA)

"(40% cabernet sauvignon, 33% syrah, 17% merlot and 10% malbec): Bright red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, licorice pastille, bitter chocolate and violet; plenty of evidence of the malbec here. Then creamy and deep but with good energy and floral lift to the dark berry and licorice flavors. This big, broad, tactile wine finishes with firm, ripe, building tannins and noteworthy persistence. I find more malbec character than syrah today. This producer's least expensive red is also the most accessible today." (IWC)

"Smooth and dry, a sophisticated young wine brimming with ripe, sweet blackberry, blueberry, grilled meat and spice flavors. Could improve over the next four years. " (WE)

Winery Notes:
The Buoncristiani O.P.C. is our Napa Valley proprietary red blend. In the quest to create a wine uniquely ours, we discovered the synergy of marrying Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah, while also folding in further complexity of texture and flavor with Napa Malbec and Merlot blenders. Grapes are sourced from some of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards including Hyde, Stagecoach, Hossfeld, and Bennett. Just like our winemaking fathers before us, with “Ol’ Pa’s Cuvée” we four brothers continue the family tradition of handcrafting blends that help accentuate the enjoyment of life.

To ensure our highest standard of quality, the vineyards are managed by growers who adhere to our strict viticultural philosophy and the wines are crafted with our own hands. The components of O.P.C. were harvested and fermented separately in small batches, then carefully blended in several phases during the second year of barrel aging. This 2007 O.P.C. was aged in French oak barrels for 21 months and bottled in July of 2009.

We, the Buoncristiani brothers, take pride in performing all aspects of enology, viticulture, wine production, marketing, and package design in order to share with you a true expression of our winemaking passion.
