"Plum and black currant fruit mingle with smoke, bacon, balsamic and licorice notes in this firm red, which has plenty of structure, with citrusy acidity keeping it focused and lively. A modern style. Drink now through 2016. 125 cases imported. " (WS)

"The 2006 Calvario is a glass-coating opaque purple color; it exhibits a bouquet of brooding black fruits, graphite, truffle, Asian spices, and blackberry. Already complex on the palate with loads of succulent fruit, it possesses enough fine-grained tannin to evolve for 3-4 years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2026.

The Calvario Vertical Tasting : Allende’s Calvario cuvee is typically 90% old-vine Tempranillo and the balance Garnacha and Graciano sourced from the vineyard of the same name planted in 1945. The wine is aged in new French oak for 16 months and bottled without filtration. The Aurus Vertical Tasting : The flagship Aurus is typically 85% old-vine Tempranillo and 15% Graciano aged in new French oak for 24 months." (WA)

"($152; 90% tempranillo, 8% garnacha and 2% graciano, from a single vineyard planted in 1945) Opaque ruby color. Ripe cherry and plum on the nose, with a strong spicecake quality adding vivacity. Musky, brooding dark berry flavors stain the palate, only slowly offering much in the way of nuance. Aeration brought up exotic incense and Asian spice qualities, which carry through an impressively long, chewy finish. Lock this beast up for at least another five years." (IWC)
