"A soft, medium-bodied red, with nice berry and chocolate aromas and flavors. Slightly short, but this is a nice wine. Best after 2009. 2,665 cases made." (WS)

"Another sleeper of the vintage, this blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc emerges from the limestone soils outside St.-Emilion. An inky/purple color is accompanied by stunningly flamboyant aromas of melted licorice, white chocolate, raspberries, and black currants. Full-bodied, layered, gorgeously pure, and well above its official pedigree, this 2005 Joanin-Becot should drink beautifully for a decade." (WA)

"($36-$40) Good red-ruby. Jammy blueberry, espresso, licorice, mocha, menthol and nutty oak on the nose. Fat, rich, deep and sweet but with nicely integrated acidity giving the wine shape and firmness. Unusually powerful for this Cotes de Castillon wine, which really coats the palate on the aftertaste. Has a firm acid/tannin spine for slow evolution in bottle." (IWC)

"This opulent, showy wine is filled with licorce covered black raspberries, chocolate, vanilla and jammy scents. Soft, ripe and already open, this sexy little treat will compare well in a blind tasting with much more expensive St. Emilion wines. 91 points - Tasted Jan 4, 2011" (JL)
