"Round and fruity, with crushed black fruit and a hint of oaky vanilla. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, balanced finish. Concentrated and rich, with lots of coffee and berry character. Best after 2009. 4,330 cases made. -JS" (WS)

"From the home estate of Dany and Michel Rolland, the 2005 Fontenil has an opaque, thick ruby/purple color. Dense plum, black cherry, blackberry and cassis fruit jump from the glass of this full-bodied, terrific Fronsac, which is one of the appellation’s stars of the vintage. Long, rich, young, and capable of lasting another 15-20 years, this is one of the candidates for Wine of the Vintage in Fronsac. This wine actually needs another several years of bottle age." (WA)

"Bright medium ruby. Sappy aroma of cherry liqueur. Sweet, silky and thick, with lovely floral lift contributing to the impression of juiciness and energy. Sexy, aromatic and fruit-driven wine with terrific life for the vintage. The serious finish features firm tannins and very good length. This should age nicely." (VM)

"Fully mature, this luscious, round, supple round, with its smoke, licorice, plum and earthy profile shows how well the best wines of Fronsac can age. 2884 Views Tasted Apr 16, 2016" (JL)
