"White pepper and botrytis can be detected emanating from the glass of the rich, thick 2003 Beerenauslese Serriger Herrenberg. Dense and plush, it is an exotic sweet wine with mango, apricot jelly, and papaya compote flavors. Because of the scorching heat that characterized its vintage, this wine (like most of Germany’s 2003 late harvest offerings) lacks the vibrancy and focus that have made the great reputations of Beerenauslesen. Projected maturity: 2008-2030." (WA)

"Shows fine acidity and does have underlying brown sugar and caramel selections, even though there is was little botrytis. It shows the flavor profile of a Beerenauslese (BA), but not the weight. Still, an excellent bottle. " (FWR)
