Winery Notes:
Berberana is one of the oldest and finest names in Rioja. Founded in 1877 the Bodega in Cenicero in the Rioja Alta is now a modern winery with ageing facilities housing over 50,000 barrels and producing wine of the highest standard.

Known for its consistent quality and range of wines both traditional and modern, Berberana is at the forefront of modern winemaking technology whilst at the same time mindful of the tradition and history that has made Rioja one of the classic wine regions of the world.

A traditional Rioja Brand where much emphasis is placed on careful barrel ageing, using American oak for Crianza quality through to Gran Reserva. This is followed by further bottle maturation that allows the wines to reach a good level of maturity when first released.

Grape varieties:80% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha

Production method:After gentle fermentation, the wine is kept in vats for a period of 12 months in order to be fully stabilised before being transferred to oak casks for ageing. Gran Reservas are kept in American oak casks for 36 months. Following this cask ageing the wine will then be aged in bottle for a further 3 years.

Tasting note:Deep ruby red, with tawny hues. This Gran Reserva has a subtle aroma derived from ageing in both oak barrels and bottle. Harmonious and smooth yet full-bodied, this wine has classic characteristics of a Gran Reserva.

Serving suggestions:Roast meats, pastas, tomato dishes, barbecues and game.
