NOW HERE IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE IN A VERY HIGH QUALITY SPARKLING WINE. VERY DRY CLEAN AND CRISP. WE WERE SHOCKED!!
"The NV Espumante Brut was disgorged in January, 2014 (see back label, above the bar code). A blend of 70% Bical, 20% Cercial and 10% Baga, this comes in at 12.5% alcohol. Surprisingly powerful and quite dry in its youth, this piercing Espumante is intense and rather gripping. Finishing with fine tension, it has some complexity, flavor and power. It is very fine and quite lively. It should also be a very good bargain. It should hold nicely for the next few years, but after that we will see. Co-owner Eduarda Dias said: "We still don´t have experience for aging of this wine, this is our third release. We expect it to age well. Our first release (2009) is aging nicely." NOTE: This is a blend of base wines from the 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 vintages, so technically it cannot have "Bairrada" as the appellation.
In this group--easily the best I've seen from Vadio--the winery is firing on all burners. This group demonstrates that Vadio has become a force to be reckoned with in its region, for Baga, for whites and for sparklers, too." (WA)
