"Besides a possible auction lot, Weingut Fritz Haag produces two different bottlings of Juffer-Sonnenuhr Auslese GK which carry the AP09 and
AP12 (#12 on the label) in most vintages, whereby the AP 09 sees a little bit less botrytis. The 2015er Auslese GK AP09 offers a honeyed nose of
baked apple, pear and dried spices. Quite some ripe yellow fruits come through on the refined and smooth palate. This gives way to a smokier and
still slightly reduced side in the finish and a superbly refined touch of zesty and fruity raciness in the after-taste. This only needs a decade to
blossom. 2025-2045" (MFW)
The steep Grosse Lage (grand cru) Brauneberg has been revered as a top vineyard site since the Romans first cultivated wine grapes in the Mosel valley in the second century AD. The Juffer Sonnenuhr is the choicest center cut of the Brauneberg — the steepest and most south-facing part of the hillside that surrounds the sundial.
Auslese is a special selection of late-picked, very ripe clusters with about 50% botrytis-affected grapes.
