23% Grenache Blanc
5% Picpoul Blanc
"A seriously aromatic white (which isn't the norm for Rhone blends), the 2014 Esprit Blanc de Tablas (72% Roussanne, 23% Grenache Blanc and 5% Picpoul) gives up loads of lemon curd, white flowers, peach and honeysuckle to go with a medium-bodied, rich, layered profile on the palate. It has bright acidity, but it's nicely integrated. It's already a joy to drink, but it can be cellared for 7-8 years or more with great results." (WA)
"Light yellow, with a hint of green. High-pitched citrus and orchard fruits on the nose, with hints of tonic, jasmine and chalky minerals adding urgency. Silky and focused on the palate, offering intense Meyer lemon and pear flavors plus a hint of smokiness. Finishes refreshingly bitter and taut, with an echo of dusty minerals." (VM)
The 2014 Esprit de Tablas Blanc has an appealing nose of fresh pears, wildflower honey and candied pecan, lifted by a spicy notes of anise and orange blossom. The mouth shows flavors of salted honeydew, honeycrisp apple, and more pear, with floral notes of jasmine and citrus blossom reemerging on the long, clean, spicy finish. Already delicious, it should also go out 15 years or more and gain additional nuttiness and complexity with time.
