"Bright cherry and currant fruit notes are embraced by vanilla-tinged oak. Though light in weight, this remains balanced and moderately long. Drink now through 2019. 20,000 cases made.–BS " (WS)

"Dark and savory, the 2014 Chianti Classico Berardenga delivers dried fruit and a broad approach. The wine does not offer the obvious primary fruit you usually get in a young Chianti Classico. Instead, it shows a dark color and evolved aromas of tobacco, leather and candied prune. In fact, this vintage tastes older than it actually is. This wine is best consumed within the next two or three years.

Fèlsina earns some of my top scores, especially with regards to the high-end wines. I was less convinced by the base wines from the 2014 vintage and some from the 2013 vintage as well. It appears that the best fruit in 2013 - a vintage I have absolutely enjoyed across the appellation - was dedicated to the estate's flagship products." (WA)

"The 2014 Chianti Classico Berardenga is fabulous. Fresh, aromatic and salivating with acidity, the 2014 is a super-old school Chianti Classico from start to finish. The intense acidity might come as a shock to readers used to more contemporary, supple wines, but this is a terrific example of what Chianti Classico from Castelnuovo Berardenga is all about. Cherry pit, leather, smoke, grilled herbs, menthol and game add striking nuance throughout. The savory, earthy style that is typical of the estate's best wines comes through loud and clear. In 2014, Fèlsina did not bottle their top Riservas, all the best fruit went into the straight Chianti Classico. The 2014 is a wine to buy by the case and enjoy over the next 20 years. I won't be surprised if the 2014 develops into an even better wine than this note suggests." (VM)

"A fresh and linear Chianti Classico with lemon rind, cherry, and cedar aromas and flavors. Medium body and a lively finish. Shows tension and style. Drink now." (JS)

Winery Notes:
Vineyard Profile:
Chianti Classico is the cornerstone of the estate’s production. The vineyards are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southeastern part of the Chianti Classico appellation, to the northeast of Siena. Almost exclusively with a southwestern exposure, they sprawl across ventilated slopes at an altitude ranging from 320-420 meters above sea level. Geologically, the terrains are mixed: in the higher parts the soil is predominantly rock quartz and calcareous alberese mixed with alluvial pebbles; strataform sandstone and loam characterize the vineyards on the edge of the Colli Senesi in the direction of the Crete Senesi. The first vintage was 1967.

Characteristics:
Ruby red with deep intensity and hue. Fruity, fine and elegant aromas dominated by wild berries accompanied by various spicy notes. Fruity on the palate with good tannins and a lingering finish.

Vinification:
Fermentation temperature between 28-30 ° c. Maceration time 12-15 days. Automated punching scheduled daily. Racking at the end fermentation and transfer in March-April to medium-capacity Slovenian oak barrels. Barrel-aged12 months, bottle-aged 3 months.
