In 1978, Gary became one of the first winemakers to produce a 100% Syrah varietal wine in the United States. Gary secured bud wood from U.C. Davis originally obtained from Chapoutier's planting in Tain Hermitage. With this, he planted twenty acres of Syrah in Paso Robles in 1975. This vineyard has been our main source of Syrah for over 30 years. The 2013 vintage is a full bodied wine that has firm upfront tannins, rich dark fruit flavors of black berries and blueberries with hints of smoky oak, black pepper and coffee.
The plush flavors and supple tannins of Eberle's Syrah makes it a perfect complement to a variety of meats including Gary's famous barbecued pork or beef ribs, roasted rack of lamb or smoked duck.
