"Polished and full of rich, spicy notes that accent the apple tart, pastry and lemon meringue flavors. Some saline details show midpalate, with a crisp and pure-tasting finish that reveals hints of dried mint. Drink now through 2020. 143 cases made.–KM " (WS)

"Offering tons of ripe, caramelized orchard fruits, honeycomb and crushed rock, the 2014 Chardonnay Hapgood is full-bodied, concentrated and unctuously textured, with notable freshness, no hard edges and a great finish. This is a rich, gorgeous Chardonnay to enjoy over the coming decade or more.

As I commented last year, there have been significant changes at Brewer-Clifton recently and Steve Clifton is no longer involved at the estate. However, Greg Brewer remains the driving force here, and his 2014s are beautiful wines. In addition, Greg remains one of the few winemakers not afraid of true richness and ripeness, and his wines are better for it." (WA)

"The 2014 Chardonnay Hapgood shows the more exotic, flamboyant side of Chardonnay. A host of tropical fruit, mango, apricot jam and butter give the wine much of its shape and personality. Overt and opulent, yet also remarkably vivid, the Hapgood is superb today. " (VM)

Winery Notes:
This bottling is comprised of 100% estate Mount Eden clone chardonnay from our Hapgood vineyard, which exhibits a broader stone fruit flesh and weight in the wine.

Located across the road from our Machado vineyard and is situated immediately next to the Acin parcel at the end of Hapgood Road. In slightly richer soil, the vineyard is planted to the Mount Eden selection of chardonnay. The elevated clay loam content results in larger volume and a more dense palate expression.

Only neutral Sirugue barrels are used for 12-18mos. Whole Cluster pressed chardonnay. We do not promote or prohibit malolatic fermentation, allowing wine to be in balance, bright and elegant.

All of the single vineyard wines are produced with the intention of aging and cellaring for at least 10 years and can easily be enjoyed after 15 years.
