"True to the grape and the vintage, the 2014 Chianti Classico reveals simple fruit flavors of white cherry and red currant. There is pressed violet and freshly milled white pepper as well. The wine shows fresh acidity and a snappy, easy-drinking style. The blend is 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo-Ciliegiolo-Colorono aged in large oak casks for 12 months. Some 140,000 bottles are produced. Tuscan red wine does not get more traditional than this.

Emanuela Stucchi Prinetti and her family have introduced a new wine. The 2011 Montebello (an IGT Toscana) is a complicated blend of indigenous grapes from Central Italy that had been the focus of research and experimental efforts. Each grape contributes a unique quality to the wine: Mammolo is celebrated for its fruity aromas; Ciliegiolo offers darkness of color; Pugnitello delivers structure and a saturated appearance; Colorino is another darkly-colored grape as its name suggests, and it tends to come in at low alcoholic levels; Sanforte is a vigorous grape whose name means "strong Sangiovese"; Malvasia Nera offers structure; Canaiolo contributes acidity; Foglia Tonda adds to the aging and longevity of the wine; and Sangiovese is the traditional glue that binds these grapes together." Winery Notes:
This wine, with ICEA organic certification from 2003, is the result of absolutely natural production methods using hand-picked organically grown Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes from our vineyards at Badia a Coltibuono. It is considered to be one of the most representative wines of the Chianti Classico appellation.

Vintage notes:
After a mild winter and an early bud-break the summer was variable, and wetter than most of the recent seasons. The long-term use of organic practices helped to achieve perfect maturation and to preserve the health of the grapes. Manual sorting of the grapes at the winery was employed to ensure optimal quality.

Tasting Notes:
The color is bright ruby, the nose unveils layers of iris, violet, tobacco, black pepper and marasca cherry. The taste is well balanced, tightly knit with supple tannins, mineral notes, a mouth cleansing fresh acidity. Warm and persistent.
