"There's nothing not to like about the 2014 Primitivo di Manduria Anima di Primitivo Tenute Eméra. Temperature-controlled fermentation occurs in stainless steel with 15 days of skin maceration. Some 50,000 bottles are produced. The wine offers a savory and smokey bouquet with dark fruit backed by cured tobacco and campfire ash. There's even a touch of mineral dustiness that you don't often get with Primitivo. The finish is slightly sweet and loaded with dark prune-like flavors." (WA)
Primitivo is a dark-skinned grape known for producing inky, tannic wines similar to a Zinfandel, intensely flavored and deeply colored.
