The Chardonnay is from Dijon Clones which are early ripening. The fruit is pressed, cold settled, and barreled down to 95% American oak and 5% Russian oak, and overall is 50% new oak. The wine is sur lie aged in oak for 10 months, stirred monthly, and undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation giving it that
creamy palate and finish.
The nose is bright with candied lemon peel, toasted marshmallow, and graham cracker. The palate opens with a touch of mango which leads into the broad creamy mid palate, showcasing crème brulee and baked apple.
The 2013 Vintage was challenging for vintners with rains coming at inconvenient times and a growing season that yielded one of the smallest crops in years. The grapes that did make it in 2013 are good but there is not much out there, so buy up the 2013 wines because they will go quick!
