"The 2013 Zinfandel Sloth is even better, but production is much smaller, at only 291 cases. This is a stunner, with blueberry and black raspberry fruit, earthy, loamy soil undertones, a touch of pepper and smoked meats. Even a barbecue note seems to make an appearance in this beauty to drink over the next 7-8 years." (WA)

Winery Notes:
Sloth is a Zinfandel coming from Mendocino County, a first for the winery. An 18 acre, 31 year old hillside vineyard in southern Mendocino near Hopland, CA. Longtime farming family Nelson Family Vineyards owns and manages this ranch. A very famous Sonoma clone, Pacini, is the bud wood source of this Zinfandel. Cole loam soils that inhibit production keeping the tonnage under 4 tons/acre and help exhibit structured spicy terroir of the area. Our wine making team is continuing to produce top quality wines not only from Lodi, but also carry that same wine making style towards other top Zinfandel growing regions around California.

Tasting Notes:
Cooler climate grapes show ripe, but restrained fruit. An exotic style Zinfandel with smoky, meaty aromas and concentrated flavors of ripe plum and licorice. Finishes with stout tannins, depth and structure.
