"Features touches of toasty oak and butterscotch amid the citrus, tangerine, green apple, spice and fig flavors, offering a breadth of intensity and nuance, with a long, persistent finish. Drink now. 321 cases made. –JL " (WS)

"There are 304 cases of the 2013 Chardonnay Fog Dance Vineyard, another Green Valley hillside site just south of the town of Forestville. One-hundred percent barrel-fermented and aged in 29% new French oak, this superb Chardonnay exhibits notes of apple blossoms, lemon oil, white currants, quince and hints of tangerines and orange marmalade. The vintage’s sensational acidity and delineation come through in this full-bodied, super-concentrated 2013. Drink now-2020.

Part of the Jackson Family empire, Hartford Court is run with incredible enthusiasm and competence by Don Hartford and his winemaker, Jeff Stewart. One of the bright shining stars in California winedom, their Chardonnays are clearly Burgundian, but with sensational purity and ripeness. The Pinot Noirs are among the finest of Northern California, and Hartford Court’s Zinfandels rank alongside such top Zinfandel producers as Turley, Limerick Lane and Carlisle.

I tasted six impressive 2013 Chardonnays, which are generally aged for 15 months in 100% French oak, with a range of 33% to 44% new. Bottling is done without fining or filtration.I tasted seven bottled Pinot Noirs from the sensational 2012 vintage. All of them are aged in 100% French oak, with the percentage of new oak ranging from a low of 25% to a high of 40%. Most of these wines spend 16 months in barrel prior to being bottled. In addition to their enviable portfolio of Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, Hartford Court is one of the top Zinfandel specialists in California. The five 2013 Zinfandels I tasted were all bottled early to preserve their fruit and character." (WA)

"The 2013 Chardonnay Fog Dance Vineyard is quite pretty and lifted in style. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper open up nicely in a persistent, beautifully focused Chardonnay. The Fog Dance has a little less mid-palate pliancy than some of the other wines in this range, but it is highly appealing just the same." (VM)

Winery Notes:
Vintage & Vineyard:
The 2013 vintage was another beautiful growing season that produced very concentrated wines in the Green Valley of Russian River Valley. The Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from our estate-owned, organically farmed vineyard located in the Green Valley of Russian River Valley AVA. This stunningly beautiful vineyard was planted in 1998 using Dijon Chardonnay clone 96 and ENTAV 809 and is planted upon the locally famous Goldridge fine sandy loam soil (sometimes referred to as ‘moon dust’ due to its ultra-fine and almost ‘fluffy’ texture).

The 2013 Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay bottling is named for the dance performed by the Pacific fog, drinking through the vineyards and back again to the sea each day. This wine reflects its cool Green Valley terroir, showing fresh fruit brightness and amazing transparency along with a refined and mineral-driven texture. It is one of our small production single vineyard designated wines.

Tasting Notes:
The 2013 Fog Dance displays bright aromas of lemon and lime oil, tangerine and orange blossom. The flavors of mandarin orange, green apple and preserved lemon meld together with a mineral-driven finish, reflecting its cool Green Valley terroir.
