Winery Notes:
Our vineyard source for this wine is located on Napa Valley’s legendary Rutherford Bench, adjacent to Caymus Winery and bordered by Conn Creek and the Silverado Trail. The legendary Georges III with Rutherford Bench soils that are relatively deep and productive, with good water-holding capacity. Soils get heavier in the southern portion of the vineyard, changing to clay/loam. The diverse soil types in the vineyard show itself beautifully in both the aromas and flavors of the wine.

The 2012 Edward Lane Cabernet Sauvignon has a haunting bouquet of cedar wood, juicy blackcurrant jam and forest floor. The famed Rutherford Dust enhances the overall picture. The wine has gorgeously sweet well-integrated tannins, no evidence of new oak (as it’s so well-integrated), a plush, voluptuously textured full-bodied mouthfeel and knockout finish. This is sensational wine that harkens back to the famed Napa Cabernets from the 80’s, but more modern in style showcasing that this is a big full-bodied, powerful, rich, yet accessible style of wine, as most 2012’s tend to be. Drink it over the next 15-20 years or today with some time in a decanter.
