'The full-bodied, deep ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape GT-1 (100% Grenache) exhibits sweet kirsch and black raspberry fruit. Reminiscent of a Rayas on steroids, it was aged in new, 600-liter demi-muids, and should evolve beautifully for 15 or more years. Good luck finding any!
The first vintage of this small estate (only 100 cases of Chateauneuf du Pape are produced, but significantly more Cotes du Rhones are made) was 2001. Proprietor Dirk Vermeersch retired from a career as a race car drive to produce southern Rhone wines, and we're all the better for it.' (WA)
