GREAT VINTAGE, 12 YEARS OLD AND HAVE JUST NOW ENTERED PRIME WINDOW OF DRINK ABILITY....DRINK NOW OR CELLAR FOR MANY YEARS!
"Bright, deep red-ruby. Pungent aromas of black raspberry, minerals, licorice and bitter chocolate. Deep, dense and sappy, with a chewy sweetness accentuated by the wine's 60% new oak component. Wonderfully fine-grained and rich in extract but brooding and serious today and in need of extended cellaring. One hopes it's not a long time before Hubert Lignier is once again able to farm a great parcel like this, then harvest the grapes and make the wine from start to finish." (VM)
Clos de la Roche Grand Cru: The 55-year old vines in the 4 parcels owned by the Domaine Georges Lignier cover a surface of 1.05 hectare, an impressive holding of vines in this most prestigious of Grand Crus where the vines rest on a slim topsoil that sits on profound bedrock, conditions that produce perfect drainage and a setting that is ideal for creating a wine of depth, power and impressive length … and formidable ageability.
