"Blackberry and green tobacco aromas, with hints of coffee bean, follow through to a full body, with big, velvety tannins and a complex finish of dark chocolate and berry. Chewy and muscular, yet caressing and pretty. Best after 2015. 2,000 cases made. -JS" (WS)

"This great terroir sandwiched between Vieux Château Certan, Petrus and La Fleur Petrus, on the high plateau of Pomerol, has been owned for many years by the Barrau-Badar family. Beautiful coffee, cedar wood, Christmas fruitcake, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit jump from the glass of this full-bodied, rich, multi-layered, and very impressive Certan de May. I don’t remember it showing this well in barrel and post-bottling, but it is strutting its stuff at age 10, and has a good 20 years of upside left to it. This is a beauty. I especially admire the layered, textural style of the wine. Drink it over the next 20 years." (WA)

"92-94 Barrel sample. A hugely perfumed wine with smooth tannins. It's impressively ripe, with vibrant black fruits. -(6/20/2006) -93" (WE)

"Plum, truffle, chocolate and earthy scents open to a concentrated, rich, a plush textured wine filled with fresh plum and black cherries. Structured to age, give this until at least 2015 before you start popping a cork on this delicious Pomerol. 92 points - Tasted May 1, 2012" (JL)
